SAFFC and Bloggers in Big Shoes play futsal to save babies

A team of blogger in big shoes, aptly named Bloggers in Big Shoes, and the Warriors came together for a game of futsal at Sports Planet East Coast on July 25. 

The game was organised to raise awareness and funds for abandoned and abused babies at Sanctuary House and its online fundraising platform Project Baby Love on Give.sg

Sanctuary House is a volunteer welfare organisation that provides emergency medical and foster care to abandoned babies and children and many of them have life threatening medical conditions or are even physically abused.

Noel Tan, Programme Director of Sanctuary House said: “I am very grateful to the SAFFC and the bloggers for taking time out of their hectic schedules, to raise awareness for the babies of Sanctuary House. These babies need help and I am very happy thay they stepped up to it. ”

SAFFC and the bloggers were unreserved in their support for the event, dubbed Bloggers in Big Shoes 

Warriors'  head coach Richard Bok said: “Sanctuary House is doing great work and SAFFC  is very willing to lend its support.”

Said Warriors' captain Shahril Jantan: “We have helped in many causes but helping abandoned babies is a new to us. We are thus doing our part to help these babies, so we hope that the public can do so too.”

The Warriors sent their first team down in support. 

Participating bloggers Nikita Hengbok and Delcie Lam have no experience playing football, but was drawn to the novelty of Bloggers in Big Shoes and its intention of giving back to society.

Fellow blogger Fabian Tan, 24, a former Young Lion, and his brothers were also part of the Bloggers in Big Shoes team.

“We have always believed in using football as a means to reach out and help the wider community, so being able a part of Bloggers in Big Shoes is just right for us."

For the record, the Bloggers in Big Shoes won 9-5.
