Warriors keep eye on Asia
Milestone after milestone were achieved in the last few years, but the Warriors aren't done yet.
After wrapping up a second AFC Champions League (ACL) appearance this year, Warriors coach Richard Bok lets in that he's eyeing more success on the continent. And for that, the Warriors will have to win the league again this year.
He said: "In our next ACL appearance, I'd want the team to be knocking on the doors of the Round of 16 and giving the big clubs a run for their money.
"You look at Fulham, what they've done (in the Uefa League) is fantastic.
"On the way to the final, they beat big clubs like Juventus. So anything is possible if we really work hard, get the correct players.
After achieving their first win and bettering last year's performance, midfielder John Wilkinson and defender Mohd Noh Rahman both believe that there is still room for improvement.
Said Wilkinson: "I think we rode our luck sometimes, and you need that against the big boys really.
"But getting more points than last year, four points and not finishing last, for Singapore football, that can't be bad, can it?
"Considering that we played in the ACL after just assembling a new team this year, I think we did the best we could. We're a totally new team, and many players didn't play in the Champions League before.
"So I'm pleased with what we've achieved but we definitely can still improve."
Mohd Noh Rahman believes so too. He said: "We did better than last year, but still I think we could have done better in a few matches."
His sentiments were also felt by captain Shahril Jantan.
Said Shahril: "I think there was a significant improvement from last year.
"Right now, our objective is to focus on the league, because that's the passport to the Champions League."
