The Warriors were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Geylang United in their 2010 season opener on Wednesday (3 Feb) at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

With an eye on Saturday's AFC Champions League playoff final against Thai champions Muang Thong United, Warriors coach Richard Bok made several changes to the starting XI.

Centre-back Razaleigh Khalik and right-back Hafiz Osman started in place of Daniel Bennett and Noh Rahman respectively while Rhysh Roshan Rai took the place of Niklas Sandberg.

Mustaqim Manzur also played in place of Ahmad Latiff while upfront, striker Federico Martinez was rested. Park Tae Won took his place.

The Warriors could have gone ahead in the first half but John Wilkinson blasted his penalty.

One the stroke of half-time, the Warriors went behind instead when Syed Fadhil found the net.

Geylang found themselves one man down when defender Adrian Dhanaraj, a former Warrior, was sent off for a bookable offence in the 57th minute after bringing down Indra Sahdan in the box.

Indra duly converted the penalty himself.

Despite sending in Latiff and Sandberg later in the game, the Warriors were unable to break the deadlock.
